Yes it is hard, painful and uncomfortable for a week. And that too every month, 12 weeks in a year,84 days of continuous bleeding. The stains were a nightmare ONCE UPON A TIME on January 3rd xxyydd (forgot the year blaaaa!!! ) Hmmm....I still remember the day that cried loudly from my shower seeing those tricky spots. My mom came to the bathroom as if she knew it already, as if she expected to hear this. It's okay okay. Amma is here mole (mole - daughter), nothing to panic. She shook her hands with me and said congratulations.
I was like 'Urgggg , am bleeding here and you are congratulating me on that. How weird is that? Then she washed me, and taught me how to keep the sanitary napkin and advised me that I am entering to my teenage and you have become a woman. I didn't get it then. But then one by one my classmates have also seen to be shy those days. So its not only for me but for every girls .
So let me leave the story there for now, and come to my point that is we as girls , during our menstrual time, we have mood swing often and pain that put us in to stress. I have seen my friends who cannot even wake up from the bed due to pain and they survive on pills, which are really not good for their health. I myself have been addicted to painkillers before I knew how to tackle this problem. So here is the 10 things which I do before my period starts and during my period to keep myself away from pain and to feel better on those days.
This is the time were we need Rest & Care the most. So here it goes.
Before the flag raise, here is my preparation :
1 - I have an app called " Period Tracker" on my phone. I always forget the dates, yuck and I can't be a mess in such days, so I put this on and It will notify me way before I get it. So it is good if you can install one on your phone too. Remember this is not just an app to remind your period dates but to tell you if it is a safe period , ovulation frequency etc. It will tell you date by date what goes on your tummy. Nice to have it monitored for maintaining a healthy period cycle.
2 - I start to eat dates , at least 2 -4 pieces every day one week before the period comes. Because it's a rich source of healthy fiber and vitamins that will relieve pain.
3 - I make emergency hygiene kit ready, with a sanitary napkin, a disposal bag, one cotton towel tissues. I put this in my hand bag.
On the big day :
1 - I am ready to get up and will have a shower on the same time to make myself keep clean and then put on my napkin. I change it every 4 hrs to make sure that it will not cause any infections there. Even if you have less bleeding, it is good to change it every 4 hrs.
2 - And the nasty part is the rashes, we get after walking and running this cottons between our legs.
I always put coconut oil during night between there and sleep off. The next morning you wake up it will be healed. Don't wrinkle your faces now, it works . Try it, rather than taking all the pain. If it is severe , you may use an antiseptic cream or gel which you can get from any drug store. Some say to use powder but I don't use. I find it awesome with coconut oil
3 - Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated even if you don't feel like drinking.
